I first met Holly at our church Youth Ministry five years ago, and one of the first things she said to me was "what can I do to help?"
Holly's selfless & servant hearted nature overflowed into every aspect of planning her wedding.
From late nights collaborating together to pull off her dream wedding, to teaming up with myself, her mum & maid of honour the day before the wedding to see the whole thing executed, that same question remained on her lips - "what can I do to help?"
It has been my sheer joy to have witnessed Holly as she met, and fell in love with Josh, and an even greater joy to be privileged with the honour of working along side them to create the whimsical, and enchanting event that was their wedding!
Wild Elk Design worked to create; Save the Date cards, the Invitation bundle, menu design, hand written place cards, hand painted timber signage, Welcome sign, custom chalk boards, table numbers, Order of Service books, engagement party signage & photo booth backdrop and wedding venue styling.
A huge thank you to the wonderful Alex from Olguin Photography for capturing the beautiful images below.
For all of us hopeless romantics out there, I asked Holly & Josh to share a bit of their story with me. I think it's safe to say that this couples journey & relationship is just as beautiful as their picture perfect wedding day!
"From the moment I met Josh, we had an instant connection and attraction, and I knew he was something special..." recounts Holly.
Wild Elk: So, tell us about that fateful first encounter...
Holly: We met at a mutual friends’ party and I spotted him as soon as he walked in. He was confident, cool, attractive, and kind looking. We got talking about our mutual love of triple J artists, what we do, what we love, and that we loved God. It was evident he was a man of God in the way he spoke, conducted himself and his clear involvement in his church. That night I went home and could not stop thinking about him and had to keep checking my phone for that all important friend request. That patience didn’t last long, so I added him soon after, and we talked, and talked, and talked
Josh: From the moment I met Holly I was hooked on her. Not just physically (although she was and still is smoking hot) but emotionally, socially and spiritually. She ticked every box and somehow was into me!
Holly: A few months later we ended up becoming official at a University music gig. He asked me, like a gentlemen, to be his girlfriend and then we shared our first kiss.
Josh: I still remember telling her on the first night of me asking her out that "this was the beginning of something special and significant". Knowing and being in a relationship with her has forever changed me for the better
Wild Elk: They say when you "know; you just "know". Did this ring true for you as a couple?
Josh: It was an easy decision to propose to Holly. She is smart, caring, beautiful, fun, exciting, makes me happy and loves God.
She is without a doubt the best person I could ever have asked for and fallen in love with.
Holly: We knew we wanted to marry each other really early on, but we knew we had to be wise and go through some tough times and a fight before that could happen. He proposed to me one year and 2 months into dating and I did not expect it. He had been telling me a few months before that that he was not ready – just to get me to get off his back from asking when he would propose.
The all important proposal...
Holly: I got out of the car at dusk and noticed some candles lighting the walkway to a gazebo, which was decked out with fairy lights. I naively said “Oh, looks like someone is getting proposed to!” I continued to follow them, thinking nothing of it, until I started walking ahead to realize they (Josh's family) had stopped a few metres back, their faces looking eager. It them dawned on me that the proposal was for me. It was the most surreal experience. Everything was perfect and intimate and I loved having our families in on it.

Some last words from Holly, "Sometimes its easy to love, and sometimes it seems really hard. But love is a choice, not an emotion. And we chose each other and we look forward to continue to grow in our love and our character."
